Programs and support for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) young people.
Baseline for Young People want to conquer queer based prejudice and discrimination in our community. Through the development of environments that are safe and supportive of queer young people. Such environments will be of benefit to all young people, who are directly or indirectly impacted upon by queer-based prejudice. What does LGBTIQ stand For?
Lesbian - Women who are sexually attracted to women
Gay - Males who are sexually attracted to men
Bisexual - A person who is sexually attracted to both sexes
Transgender - A person whose personal idea of gender does not correlate with their assigned gender role
Intersex - A person with both male and female attributes
Queer - A person who feels that their sexual orientation /gender identity falls outside heterosexual boundaries
Currently we are running the Rainbow Project
It doesn’t matter if you are straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans or intersex. Everyone is welcome! Make some awesome new friends and learn new skills, including:
- Film making
- Make up
- Script writing
But most of all you will have fun and help us create a more inclusive community for everyone.
In addition, training is provided to schools aimed at teachers and students in partnership with the Rainbow Network and the Safe Schools Coalition. We aim to contribute to the development of a truly inclusive society that is tolerant of all forms of diversity.
